Everyday Adventures #26
This was a good adventure! I saw the exhibit of paintings by Fiona Rae at Leeds Art Gallery http://www.leeds.gov.uk/museumsandgalleries/Pages/leedsartgallery/Fiona-Rae.aspx. It was very good! Her work is very energetic and vibrant, and much of it has little pandas and bunnies and what not on it. I liked it all! I even found some inspiration for some Stephie Art.
It is only showing until the 26th August, so I recommend you all hurry along to see it before it’s gone! I give this exhibit 9/10, I really enjoyed her work.

Book Review – Falling to Heaven, Jeanne Peterson
Set in Tibet in the mid fifties, an American couple travelling in Tibet get caught up in the Maoist invasion, bad things happen.
I enjoyed this book. It’s not great literature (What was with all the lip pursing in the first half of the book? And why did it suddenly stop?), and it got a bit gody in parts, but it was interesting and I learnt stuff I didn’t know about Tibetan culture and traditions.
The Tibetan family who befriended the American couple were sympathetic characters, though I didn’t feel the same about the protagonists themselves – ‘Emma’ was too angry, and ‘Gerald’ too pious. I think this was a shortfall of the writing style; the characters didn’t have enough depth, I was always aware I was reading a book with fictional characters.
Not exactly unputdownable, but interesting enough for me to want to finish it.
6/10
